Powering Europe’s Battery Transformation

While the demand for advanced batteries continues to grow, Europe still faces major challenges in building resilient, local supply chains and reducing reliance on overseas manufacturers. Strengthening European battery production is essential to securing technological leadership and accelerating the continent’s transition to a green economy. Danube Cell Manufacturing (DCM) was founded to help drive this transformation.
Sustainability
Based in the heart of Central Europe, DCM combines advanced battery expertise with access to clean, sustainable energy to manufacture high-performance battery cells tailored to demanding applications. Rather than focusing on mass-produced standard solutions, we specialise in custom battery technologies engineered for quality, reliability, and performance.
Innovation
Beyond manufacturing, DCM bridges the gap between research and industrial production. We support companies and innovators in transforming novel battery materials and cell components into market-ready products — from prototype development to small-scale production runs. Our goal is to accelerate the commercialisation of next-generation battery technologies by providing the manufacturing expertise needed to scale innovation successfully.
Quality
With more than 15 years of experience in lithium-ion battery development and pilot-scale manufacturing, DCM delivers specialised solutions for industries and applications where off-the-shelf products are simply not enough. From hundreds to thousands of cells per batch, we provide flexible, application-specific production capabilities designed around our customers’ needs.

DCM brings Europe’s engineering excellence and Mittelstand spirit into the battery industry — producing sustainable, high-quality batteries made in Austria for the future of electrified mobility.

About the Team

Marcus Jahn — CEO & Founder
Marcus Jahn began his journey in the battery industry in 2010 during his PhD at the University of Nottingham, where he focused on the manufacturing of thin-film LFP cells. Early in his career, he recognised that breakthrough battery technologies are not driven by materials alone — manufacturing plays an equally critical role. He identified the true challenge as scaling innovative materials into reliable, reproducible, and commercially viable battery products.

He later continued his work at WMG, University of Warwick, where he contributed to establishing one of the UK’s first public pilot production lines for battery cells. In 2017, Marcus joined the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, leading the battery research group and helping build internationally recognised pilot manufacturing capabilities.
Throughout his career, Marcus has worked on the development of numerous battery technologies through international research collaborations. Founding DCM was a natural next step — creating a company capable of bringing these innovations from the lab to the market while continuing to support the next generation of battery technologies.

With the support of AIT and a strong European innovation network, Marcus established DCM to build high-quality battery manufacturing capabilities in Europe, delivering sustainable and advanced battery solutions for the electrified future.
